I designed this project along with the classes and activities instructed by Alan Vasconcelos through the UX Design Bootcamp offered by the Institudo de Gestão e Tecnologia da Informação (IGTI). The only thing received by the bootcamp was the briefing and article suggestions. From then on, I was the one who studied the area, created a persona and USM, wireframed and prototyped the entire project.
About the project
An app focused on fans of movies and TV series that enjoy to always be up-to-date on the releases of new contents, but get lost in front of so many options. An app that will help people choose a series by its category or rating, and read the comments of other people similar to me.
To better understand the possible user of the app, articles about consumers of streaming were used for the creation of a persona. It was considering how the persona would think that the User Story Mapping was developed, and the first functionalities started to be thought out (only in paper up until now).
The design
The first step of the development of the prototype was the creation of a wireframe. While the font, text, and icons were only temporary, this was the initial prototype that would be the base for the high fidelity prototype.
The main component created was the card for series and movies. Its elements include:
- A poster for easy recognition of the media
- Icons of which friends have already watched this content
- The medium of all ratings done by the users of the app.
These elements were considered as important keys to reach the objectives of the users. By looking just once, the user already knows if this show or movie is one they’ll be able to talk to a friend about, or if its considered good or bad by the majority of users.
Pangolix lets you register your latest binge watchings, find your next addiction, and also discover what are the shows most popular among your friends.
The screen of details for a media shows the most important information for the user, like what is its age rating, genres, and in what streaming services will you be able to find this series or movie.
Some more tools that are also available on this screen are reviews, the ability to turn on notifications for news on this specific media, a list of the cast, and recommendations for other shows based on this media.
